[밸류체인타임스=강성찬 칼럼니스트] 러시아와 우크라이나 간 전쟁은 여전히 격렬하게 이어지고 있다. 최근 포로 교환이 이뤄진 직후, 러시아는 키이우(키예프)를 향해 대규모 공습을 감행하여 우크라이나를 강하게 압박했다.
24일(현지시간) 로이터와 AP 통신 등에 따르면, 우크라이나 군은 23일 밤부터 24일 새벽 사이 러시아가 탄도미사일 14기와 드론 250대를 발사했다고 밝혔다. 그러나 격추된 미사일과 드론의 파편이 키이우 최소 6개 구역에 떨어지면서 아파트 여러 채가 심하게 파손되고 화재도 발생해, 최소 15명이 부상을 입었다.

이번 공격은 현대 전쟁에서 무기의 위력이 얼마나 커졌는지를 잘 보여준다. 특히 우리가 익숙하게 알고 있는 ‘드론’이 이제는 전장에서 가장 위협적인 무기 중 하나로 떠올랐다. 만약 드론의 작전 반경이 더욱 넓어진다면, 건물 내부에 있는 사람 앞까지 침투해 폭탄을 투하할 수 있을지도 모른다.
나아가, 인공지능이 탑재된 ‘로봇’이 전쟁에 활용되기 시작하면 전장의 양상은 더욱 비현실적으로 바뀔 것이다. 로봇과 로봇이 맞붙는 미래의 전쟁은 파괴력이 훨씬 크고, 더욱 정밀해질 것이며, 로봇을 많이 보유한 국가일수록 상대국에 치명적인 위협이 될 것이다.
이처럼 첨단 기술이 전쟁에 이용되는 현실 속에서, 이를 방어하기 위한 기술 역시 중요하다. 예를 들어, 적의 드론이나 미사일을 무력화시킬 수 있는 전자전 기술, 네트워크 마비 기술이 반드시 필요하다. 방어 기술이 아무리 발달해도 모든 위협을 완전히 차단하는 것은 어렵다. 요격에 성공하더라도 파편이 인근에 떨어지거나 공중에서 폭발할 경우 여전히 위험은 존재한다.
2025년의 전쟁은 단순한 무력 충돌이 아닌, 기술의 싸움이다. 더욱 강력해지고 정교해진 무기들이 전장을 지배하며, 우리 모두의 일상에도 그 그림자가 드리우고 있다. 이 같은 위협 속에서 인류는 기술을 제어하고, 전쟁의 종식을 향한 해법을 모색해야 할 때다.
